Douglasville, Ga – Douglas County Board of Commissioners Vice-Chairman and District 2 Commissioner Kelly G. Robinson was recently honored with the 2019 Trailblazer Award at the South Metro Development Outlook Conference in Atlanta, Ga. Commissioner Robinson received the honor for blazing a trail in public transit for the 13 county metro Atlanta region.
The award was presented by MARTA CEO Jeff Parker and ATL Executive Director Chris Tomlinson. As Commissioner Robinson took to the stage to accept the award, he delivered remarks first thanking Douglas County Board of Commissioner Chairman Romona Jackson Jones for her introductory remarks of a befitting warrior. Commissioner Robinson then thanked fellow District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell, III and Douglas County Multi-Modal Transportation Director Gary Watson.
Commissioner Robinson delivered remarks that included “true change requires commitment.” Commissioner Robinson who also chairs the Transportation Committee for Douglas County received the prestigious award for his leading efforts to expand transportation options for the community in Douglas County.
“As humbling as it was to receive this award, this recognition shows the significant work that has been done for the benefit of Douglas County citizens,” Vice Chair Robinson said. “I’m truly honored to be a recipient of this award to offer solutions in extending our transportation efforts.”
